Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes wants to have the NBA’s Toronto Raptors play in his town for the 2021 season.

With the NBA hoping to resume action before the end of the calendar year, the attention turns to the Toronto Raptors, who currently are without a home due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

If Patrick Mahomes has his way, perhaps fansfrom the Great White North will be rooting for the Kansas City Raptors for the 2020-21 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback reacted to a report earlier Monday stating that while the Raptors could be playing at the University of Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center, the team should plant their roost right in his backyard.

Mahomes has proven his advocacy in supporting sports within Kansas City after becoming a part of the ownership group of the Kansas City Royals.

The City of Kansas City is backing Mahomes’ request

Mayor Quinton Lucas took to Twitter over the weekend to throw Kansas City’s name into the conversation, saying the two would be a perfect match. As for location, the T-Mobile Center downtown can sit over 19,000 fans, just a few hundred seats smaller than Scotiabank Arena sits for a regular-season outing.

Having the support of the city, plus one of the premier icons in the world of sports, the Raptors and the NBA should consider making it their temporary home. Kansas City is already home to two professional sports while Louisville will potentially be in the mix of their own season in the ACC.

The Raptors would get a home to call theirs for the time being, Mahomes would help build a new bandwagon fanbase and the NBA season will go off without a hiccup minus the Big 12 tournament. Seems like a win-win for all involved right?

At worst, at least the Raptors will be able to bring Kansas City BBQ back home for all Canadians to enjoy.
