Trevor Lawrence isn’t committing to declaring for the draft just yet.

Maybe this won’t be the end of Trevor Lawrence’s time at Clemson after all.

Most college and NFL fans are expecting the New York Jets to end up with the No. 1 pick in the 20201 NFL Draft, trade Sam Darnold, and use the No. 1 overall pick on Lawrence.

While Lawrence has gone on record saying this will be his last season at Clemson and that has allowed him to cherish every moment this year, he just opened the door that maybe he’s open to the possibility of returning after all.

Lawrence claims that he was anticipated going pro after his junior season with the Tigers, but he did throw in a “who knows?” in his response, leaving the door open for a potential return to Clemson.

Trevor Lawrence has continued to produce in his much-hyped junior season

Lawrence was expected to compete for a championship and a Heisman Trophy this year, and he’s done just that to start off his junior year. At the helm of the 6-0 Tigers, Lawrence is averaging 9.6 yards per attempt while tossing for 1,833 yards, 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He could theoretically be picked No. 1 overall without playing another down of college football.

Given his bazooka of a right arm, ability to make plays on the run, and success when the spotlight has shone brightly on him, it’s clear to see why he is the consensus top prospect in 2021. Sensing he might have some leverage over his destination in 2021, Lawrence might be keeping the door open for a return to Clemson in case whoever has the No. 1 pick doesn’t have their stuff together.

Jets fans and anyone else that is relegated to the bottom of the NFL standings are taking solace in a poor season by hoping Lawrence is at the end of the rainbow. Lawrence potentially not coming out in 2021 would screw everything up and change the shape of the draft.

But don’t hold your breath on Lawrence returning to Clemson and turning down the NFL.
