Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Cleveland Indians. AL. Central. 2.. player. 5

The Cleveland Indians got a steal last winter in the form of Cesar Hernandez. He was cut loose by the Philadelphia Phillies, signed a one-year pact with Cleveland to team up with Francisco Lindor, and had his best season since 2017. Through 58 games, Hernandez slashed .283/.355/.408 with three home runs, 20 RBI and a league-high 20 doubles. Oh, and he was named a Gold Glove finalist with his 98.1 fielding percentage.

So why are we linking Wong to Cleveland? Well, Hernandez is set to hit the open market and will see some competitive offers across the league. That could leave the Indians on the outside looking in, and luckily for them, they could pivot to signing Wong.

Cleveland managed to clinch a postseason berth despite tough competition in the division from the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins. If the Indians want to contend, they first need to keep Lindor. Then, they’ll have to give him a solid defender at second base. Wong would be the perfect complement.
