Fantasy Football: 5 bold predictions for Week 8
By Dustin Baker
4. Jonnu Smith has a Top 3 TE1 day against the Bengals
Here’s the deal. Jonnu Smith is the fourth-best fantasy tight end in 2020 via PPR points per game. If you have Marc Andrews on your team or you are facing Andrews in a given week, his per-game output is exactly identical to Jonnu Smith (12.4 PPR points per game). It doesn’t feel like that, does it? Well, Smith is relatively “new” to your starting lineup. Give it time — he will become a fantasy household name. He averages more points per game than Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson, for some perspective.
In Week 8, Smith and the Titans will seek vengeance against the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow and his Bengals own a 1-5-1 record, and they’re barrelling toward another Top 5 draft pick in 2021. Some things never change. At least Burrow might have a new toy to utilize.
Cincinnati is the second-to-worst team in the NFL in surrendering fantasy points to tight ends. The Atlanta Falcons are a bit worst but not by much.
Capitalize on this trend and expect Smith to gobble about 15 fantasy points in Week 8. The Titans do enjoy running the football with Derrick Henry, but Ryan Tannehill has done a wonderful job getting A.J. Brown and Smith interwoven into the offense.
