The Bills should be on upset alert against the Patriots

This week is a very dangerous one for the Bills, who haven’t played their best football of late. Buffalo snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the New York Jets 18-10 on Sunday but their performance in East Rutherford was far from spectacular.

There were some bad signs for Buffalo on Sunday, which moved the football with ease but couldn’t punch the ball into the end zone against a Jets’ team that entered the week surrendering over 30 points per game. Josh Allen also committed a critical fumble that short-circuited a drive deep in Jets’ territory while kicker Tyler Bass missed two field goals in the win.

Despite all of those issues, the Bills are actually opening the week as 4.5 point home favorites against the New England Patriots, who got taken to the woodshed against the San Francisco 49ers in a 33-6 loss. New England is 2-4 as Cam Newton hasn’t looked the same since returning from his coronavirus diagnosis, leading to some speculation that the Patriots’ dynasty is officially dead.

That is a dangerous statement to make with a Bill Belichick-coached team especially considering the fact that the Bills have gone 4-30 against New England since 2003. Buffalo also hasn’t won at home against the Patriots since 2011, a fact that should make Bills’ fans very nervous even though New England does appear to be coming into the matchup in desperation mode.
