Pittsburgh Steelers. player. 55. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2.. AFC. North

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the last undefeated team in the NFL this season. This is essentially the same roster that they had last season, but the lone exception is they have a healthy Ben Roethlisberger. But if last year showed us anything, it’s that they need a quality contingency plan.

“Big Ben” only played two game in 2019, but had to bow out due to an elbow injury. While their stellar defense was keeping them in the hunt for a Wild Card berth, the play at quarterback held them back tremendously. Pittsburgh expressed faith in 2018 second-round selection Mason Rudolph, but he failed to live up to the hype. In fact, he was benched for Devlin “Duck” Hodges, who was no better. That played a significant role in the team missing out on the playoffs.

The Steelers are succeeding with Roethlisberger under center, but what if he gets injured again? Let’s not forget that he’s currently 38-years-old and his contract expires at the end of the 2021 season. Th Steelers should be looking for their quarterback of the future, and they should at least consider bringing in Darnold to sit behind and learn from Roethlisberger. Oh, and it won’t cost them a first-round pick to acquire him.
