3. Trade SS Amed Rosario

Rosario had a down 2020 campaign, with a .252/.272/.371 slash-line with four home runs and 15 RBI over 46 games. But perhaps most troubling is zero stolen bases, after he had 24 steals and 19 steals over the previous two seasons. Top prospect Andres Gimenez also emerged to possibly put him on borrowed time with the Mets.

But Rosario seemed to find a groove late in the season, with a .366 batting average and a .873 OPS in September (44 plate appearances). He’s also still just 24 years old, with his 25th birthday coming Nov. 20, and he was 2.4 bWAR player at a premium position in 2019.

Rosario definitely has good trade value, entering his first year of arbitration eligibility, and any team in need of a shortstop should have interest. The Mets could seek a proven, consistent upgrade as they enter a win-now mentality with open pockets under a new owner. Trading Rosario would open up that possibility, as tough as it might be to cut bait on a still-promising young player.
