AL. Los Angeles Angels. 102. Pick Analysis. West. 2. player. Scouting Report

The MLB was trying to do everything short of putting Mike Trout and the Angels in the playoffs before the start of the season. While they made it so more teams made the playoffs than missed it, Trout and Joe Maddon were still on the outside looking in, largely due to a lack of reliable pitching. Dylan Bundy finally pitching like a top prospect again was a nice surprise, but Julio Teheran was awful and Andrew Heaney took a big step backward. Without tons of elite prospects, Morton might be the best option available for them.

The Angels will have a rock-solid lineup, but Andrew Heaney took a bit of a step back last year and Julio Teheran proved to be incapable of pitching at a major league level. Morton has a blistering heater and the postseason experience that is desperately lacking on this Angels roster. He wouldn’t have a transformative effect on the rotation, but he would be one of the best members of that staff the day he stepped on the field.
