Week 10 AP Top 25: Michigan plummets in new college football rankings
Michigan plummets in the new college football rankings but how does the rest of the AP Top 25 look?
Who would have thought that in a week when Clemson went without the face of college football it would be the defense that struggled? Boston College gave the Tigers a scare putting up 28 points in the first half. In the end, D.J. Uiagalelei showed the rest of College Football that they ought to be scared. Clemson isn’t going anywhere when Trevor Lawrence goes pro.
In the SEC, Alabama poured it on a Mississippi State team that’s bleeding points and players. The Tide are building their case to be No. 1. Georgia has a major quarterback problem after Kirby Smart ran off the second best quarterback in football and refuses to start D’Wan Mathis. He used the most accurate quarterback in college as a gadget player, ostensibly because Jake Fromm almost won a national title? There are some real questions Smart needs to answer about his decision making at quarterback. He could start by explaining why Stetson Bennett gets so much slack while Mathis, who had one bad half, hasn’t seen the field since.
Speaking of the most accurate quarterback in college, Fields put on another clinic as Ohio State — the true No. 1 team in the country — reminded Penn State of their place in the Big Ten hierarchy. Likewise, Michigan State shattered any hopes of the Big Ten being an interesting conference this year. At this point one has to wonder exactly what it is that Jim Harbaugh brings to the table at Michigan.
The Big 12 announced its irrelevancy with authority as Texas beat an overrated Oklahoma State team in overtime, bringing the “best” team in the Big 12 to one-loss purgatory. Now with two losses but a legacy top 25 spot
based on their name
, we can say with authority that Texas is back! Hook ’em, baby!
