Mike Williams will get all the credit, but Justin Herbert made one heck of a throw

Herbert has impressed so far as the starter in Los Angeles, so much so that even Anthony Lynn has to admit that he’s the starter long-term. Sure, Tyrod Taylor got a raw deal, but Herbert went from Training Camp struggles to potential Rookie of the Year candidate very quickly.

The former Oregon signal-caller dealt another dime to No. 1 target Mike Williams, who made a one-handed catch to complete the highlight-reel play.

While the Chargers are unlikely to make much noise in the AFC, especially given the fact that they’re in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs, LA is set up well for the future as it looks like they’ve found their QB of the future.

Just one season after moving on from Philip Rivers, Herbert is ready to take the Chargers to new heights. Rivers never won a Super Bowl in San Diego or Los Angeles, to no fault of his own. Facing perennial powers like the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, there wasn’t much of a window for the Chargers to reach their ultimate goal.

Now, with the AFC more wide open than it’s been in quite some time despite the emergence of the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, should Herbert develop quickly the Chargers will be set up in an ideal spot for years to come.

At least, that’s what the Chargers should be selling to their fans right now. I don’t charge for the finders fee.
