4. Jurickson Profar

Profar doesn’t look like he’ll ever achieve the type of superstar status many scouts predicted for him when he first broke into the majors. Instead, his ceiling now seems to be as one of the most productive utility players in the league. The Yankees could certainly benefit from acquiring a player who can give them above-average production at so many different positions.

Despite being in the majors for a long time, Profar is still just 27 years of age. The Yankees could sign him to a multi-year deal this offseason and still capture the back end of his prime. He’s a balanced hitter who can give Aaron Boone’s lineup a modest booth in both power and speed.

Profar shouldn’t be viewed as a signing that could replace D.J. LeMahieu as the team’s everyday starter at second base. He can, however, give the Yankees a significant number of starts at that position. Profar’s ability to also play either corner outfield spot would give him even more value.

The team’s ability to sign Profar will likely come down to what the player will prioritize. If he’s looking for a guaranteed starting spot, the Yankees won’t be in the mix. If he’s willing to sign as a super-utility player for a legitimate World Series contender then he could easily end up in the Bronx.
