Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler was removed from the game.

The Minnesota Vikings needed to put in a great performance against the hated Green Bay Packers to prevent their season from spiraling totally out of control.

Unfortunately, the first quarter saw them lose one of their best defensive starters in cornerback Cameron Dantzler in the most horrifying of ways.

Dantzler was taken off the field on a stretcher following a scary collision. Dantzler was trying to tackle Packers running back A.J. Dillon, but his head and neck collided with the thigh of teammate Anthony Harris, leaving him prone on the turf. FOX’s Pam Oliver reported that Dantzler had a neck injury and is being evaluated for a possible concussion.

Cameron Dantzler earned a starting spot with the Vikings as a rookie

Dantzler was one of the more productive cornerbacks in the SEC during his final season at Mississippi State, but the 6-foot-2 corner fell in the draft due to concerns about his speed. Despite only getting picked in the third round, Dantzler earned himself a Week 1 start, even earning himself some impressive praise from veteran Vikings receiver Adam Thielen.

Dantzler, who was recently taken off of the COVID-19 list, has been outperforming first-round pick Jeff Gladney in their young careers to this point.

Gladney will likely move into an outside role to replace Dantzler, while former undrafted free agent Holton Hill and 2020 fifth-round pick Harrison Hand might see an increase in snaps. Against a white-hot Aaron Rodgers and a receiver in Davante Adams that already has a pair of touchdowns, this injury could sting.

Hopefully, Dantzler is able to make a full recovery as soon as possible, as he is starting to show signs that he is one of the best young cornerbacks in the league.
