The San Francisco 49ers are going to be without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for six weeks or so with a high ankle sprain.

The San Francisco 49ers’ offense has struggled this season to find consistency due to injuries. Thing won’t be getting better moving into a short week against the Green Bay Packers.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be out for a minimum of six weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks. Garoppolo initially injured the same ankle in Week 2.

Garoppolo has struggled in moments for the 49ers offense this season with a limited arsenal. In six games starting, the 29-year-old has thrown for 1,096 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions while posting a quarterback rating of 92.4.

Are the 49ers done for 2020?

San Francisco has seen its fair share of injuries on both sides of the ball through the start of the year. Offensively, the team has lost running backs Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel for multiple games. Defensively, Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas has been out since Week 2 with knee injuries while cornerback Richard Sherman hasn’t played due to a calf injury.

In a competitive NFC West, this could be the final straw for the 49ers in their race to return to the postseason. The team will now turn to Nick Mullens, who has thrown for 852 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions in four games this season.
