2. Detroit Pistons

Like the Hornets, the Detroit Pistons badly need a franchise star for the future. They’ve currently got Blake Griffin, but it’s no secret both sides are waiting for that union to end in divorce thanks to his contract, and he’s been routinely banged up over the last few years. Christian Wood is a free agent, and although players like Luke Kennard and Sekou Doumbouya are nice young pieces, they’re not exactly franchise staples.

Drafting a franchise point guard like Ball or All-Star caliber scorer like Anthony Edwards would be a fine place to start in bringing some excitement back to Motown, but Detroit won’t be able to do so from its current spot at No. 7. If the Pistons can swing their seventh overall pick, Luke Kennard and a future first to move up to No. 1, however, they might finally have a young star to build around.

For the Wolves, they’d be moving down six spots, but a spot-up shooter with playmaking and ball-handling chops like Kennard would be an ideal fit alongside Russell in the backcourt. He’d help spread the floor and could make plays off the dribble, all without taking too many touches away from KAT and D-Lo.

Throw in a future (protected) first-round pick from Detroit and send the Pistons the No. 33 pick in return, and suddenly this could be a fairly attractive deal for both sides.
