3 trades the Raiders need to make this offseason to go on postseason run
As mentioned, the secondary of the Raiders has pieces but isn’t complete. The team ranks 25th in passing yards per game (256.6) and 29th in interceptions (three). Adding a name like Tre Boston could be a cheap rangy player should the Carolina Panthers look to free up cap space.
Boston’s been around multiple teams but always finds a way to make an impact. So far this season in the Queen City, the 28-year-old has tallied 47 tackles, three pass deflections and a forced fumble. In coverage, he’s regressed from 2019 but still is a quality option when asked to play further back.
The Raiders love to run three-safety sets or use players that can play both roles. Boston is best used as a deep version, an area the team has struggled with Erik Harris patrolling that role. Entering a contract year, perhaps a mid-round selection would get the rangy defender to play alongside Harris and Johnathan Abram in coverage for 2021 against those dreaded AFC West targets.
