NFL quarterback rankings, Week 9: Here comes Patrick Mahomes
2020 stats: 2,462 yards | 66.8 completion % | 12 TDs | 4 INTs | 7.8 YPA | 75.6 QBR
Last Week: 10
If you had five guesses who was leading the NFL in passing yards, would you have said Ryan? Probably not. Although Atlanta is 2-6, it’s not as though he’s had a ton of garbage time, considering most of the defeats have been late leads blown. Ryan is still excellent, even if the team isn’t.
2020 stats: 1,823 yards | 67.4 completion % | 17 TDs | 3 INTs | 7.8 YPA | 79.0 QBR
Last Week: 5
Tannehill had a mediocre game against the Bengals, going 18-of-30 for 223 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He still pushed the ball down the field and tried to mount a late comeback, but it wasn’t enough against Joe Burrow and Co. Overall, he’s been terrific this year.
2020 stats: 2,095 yards | 69.5 completion % | 15 TDs | 5 INTs | 8.8 YPA | 72.0 QBR
Last Week: 6
Watson is absolutely a top-five quarterback, and this despite being surrounded by a complete lack of help both in offensive weapons and any semblance of a defense. The Texans will probably trade Will Fuller before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, only making life harder.
2020 stats: 2,189 yards | 66.2 completion % | 20 TDs | 4 INTs | 7.1 YPA | 71.6 QBR
Last Week: 4
Brady is having a renaissance in Tampa Bay. Now, he gets a showdown with Drew Brees on Sunday night with the Bucs’ rematch against the Saints. It was Brady’s worst game of the campaign. Does he get revenge. We all know where the smart money is.
2020 stats: 1,948 yards | 65.9 completion % | 20 TDs | 2 INTs | 7.8 YPA | 83.5 QBR
Last Week: 3
Rodgers was good against Minnesota despite a 28-22 loss at Lambeau Field to the Vikings. Another three touchdown passes in horribly windy conditions. Even though the Packers gave Rodgers absolutely no help this offseason, Rodgers is enjoying another wonderful season in the NFL’s smallest market.
2020 stats: 2,315 yards | 66.9 completion % | 21 TDs | 1 INTs | 8.2 YPA | 85.4 QBR
Last Week: 2
Mahomes has entered the MVP chat. With 21 touchdown passes and a pace of more than 4,600 yards, the Chiefs’ superstar has positioned himself as the main challenger to Russell Wilson. On Sunday, he torched the Jets for 416 passing yards and five touchdowns. It was crazy town.
2020 stats: 2,151 yards | 71.5 completion % | 26 TDs | 6 INTs | 8.4 YPA | 82.6 QBR
Last Week: 1
Four more touchdowns for Wilson, pushing him to 26. This has been nothing short of the best season by a wide margin for a brilliant quarterback who one day will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
