Matt Ryan heads north to the Bears

Chicago’s defense will keep them around in the conversation for the postseason. That’s only if the offense led by Nick Foles doesn’t cost them another game.

Sunday’s showdown with the Saints should have been over well before Will Lutz’s overtime kick, and it should’ve been in Chicago’s favor. Foles, who’s certainly now living on his Super Bowl LII MVP name to skid by, finished with 272 yards off 41 passing attempts and a pair of touchdowns. If you throw the ball 41 times, you should be well over the 300-mark.

Ryan, who likely could have been moved for a first and mid-round selection, would have given the Bears stability under center. Even on a struggling Falcons’ roster, the veteran gunslinger leads the NFL in passing with 2,462 yards through eight games. Although the weapons are lesser in the Windy City, his overall demeanor and leadership would be well worth the cost to keep him in Chicago through at least 2021.
