2021 NFL Mock Draft: Miami Dolphins protect Tua Tagovailoa
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions were coming off two road victories when they welcomed the Indianapolis Colts to town this past Sunday. Unfortunately for the Lions, they have been terrible at home this season, and with the drubbing at the hands of the Colts, they now see themselves sitting below .500 on the year.
Indianapolis was able to put up 41 points on this Lions defense, and in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, they should look to bring in more talent up front. Marvin Wilson is the best defensive tackle in this draft class, and would be a nice addition to a group that recently added edge rusher Everson Griffin.
The Denver Broncos pulled off a huge comeback victory against a division rival on Sunday, as quarterback Drew Lock led his team all the way back against the Los Angeles Chargers. Lock and company will have to battle their way back from a 2-4 start, but the win on Sunday was a confidence builder, and showed Lock is still the right guy for them at quarterback moving forward.
On defense, the Broncos need help in their secondary, and they could get a solid player at No. 14 in Patrick Surtain II. This could be the most NFL-ready cornerback in this draft class, and he comes with an NFL pedigree, so he should be able to step in and start right away.
The San Francisco 49ers not only lost a road game against a division rival on Sunday, but they also may have seen their 2020 season go out the window. The loss of both quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle for the foreseeable future is devastating for them, and it could lead to a last-place finish in the NFC West one year after going to the Super Bowl.
Whether or not Jimmy G is the answer at quarterback remains to be seen, but this 49ers team needs to add some talent up front along the offensive line. Creed Humphrey checks off a lot of boxes for this 49ers offensive line, as he can play center, or guard, and is an absolute mauler.
