No. 8 Florida vs. No. 5 Georgia (-3)

This is the matchup Florida fans have been waiting all year for. This was supposed to be the best Gators team in years, and that’s saying something. Kyle Trask and Kyle Pitts are both outside Heisman candidates. It’s probably the best quarterback-pass catching duo in the country, although it’s arguable.

Florida hasn’t actually won this game since 2016 when Georgia was unranked. The past two times these two teams played, they were both in the top ten. The Bulldogs won by at least a touchdown each time. Although, this year seems like it’s a much different Georgia team. Replace Jake Fromm with Stetson Bennett. Kirby Smart said this week he feels Bennett gives the Bulldogs the best chance to win over J.T. Daniels and D’Wan Mathis.

Bennett has been struggling slightly as of late. He has five interceptions in the last two games, including a dreadful day against Kentucky last week (two interceptions on 13 attempts). It’s clear that Smart goes into the matchup with a clear strategy with Bennett under center that will help them overcome his mistakes.

This isn’t’ the matchup to make mistakes, though. This is Bennett’s last chance to prove he’s not going to turn into a pumpkin, leading to one of Mathis or Daniels to take over. He cannot throw interceptions when an offense like Florida’s is waiting on the other side.

Florida head coach Dan Mullen has been in the news for all the wrong reasons this season. It’s not worth getting into everything, but getting in the middle of an on-field fight seemed very over the top for him. Defensive lineman Zachary Carter and linebacker Antwuan Powell have to serve a half-game suspension during this Georgia game because of that fight.

This comes down to confidence in the offense. Trask is going to lead the Gators into this matchup as confident as they’ve been playing Georgia in a while. This could put Florida back in the conversation for an SEC Championship Game berth. Getting points in such a weird season for this two teams is just a bonus.

Pick: Florida (+3)
