4. The Colts continue a frustrating streak for 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson will not win MVP in 2020. A player rarely repeats as MVP in consecutive years, and it is an even more daunting task in 2020 when Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes are jousting for the award.

But that’s neither here nor there. The Ravens are in an odd spot. They are struggling to beat good football teams. Kansas City humbled Baltimore on Monday Night Football in September; Jackson became a turnover merchant last week against Pittsburgh in a pivotal AFC North showdown.

The Indianapolis Colts are right on the cusp of being classified as a damn good ballclub. They flatulated in Week 1 vs. the Jaguars but have since rebounded to the tune of a 5-2 overall record. Frank Reich’s team sits three games above .500 because of its stout defense. In most contests, the Colts offense does just enough to make a victory look convincing, but it is the defense that has flexed its biceps.

Jackson faces a team in Week 9 that allows just 15 fantasy points to quarterbacks. The reigning MVP may surpass 15 points, but he probably will not do so by a wide margin. The Colts are the exact opposite of a team one hopes to face when a big game from a quarterback is necessary.

The Colts will prevent Jackson from being a fantasy maniac this weekend.
