5. Noah Fant has a startable TE1 day against the Falcons

The Broncos kept their season afloat last week with a dramatic comeback vs. the Chargers. More specifically, Drew Lock reassured Denver’s front office that he is their man for the foreseeable future. Any time players like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, or Justin Herbert storm out of the gate firing on all cylinders as rookies, the bar is raised for everyone else. When Drew Lock does not specifically emulate the performances of his peers, he is cast as “mediocre” or “bust.”

Those fears are, for the moment, minimized. Theoretically, the docket gets easier in Week 9 for Denver. Vic Fangio and the Broncos travel to Atlanta this weekend to take on a team that is woeful in defending the pass. The Falcons rank 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.

On tight ends, the secondary is even worse. No team in the NFL surrenders more PPR points to tight ends than the Atlanta Falcons (11.8 per game). This means that the prognosis for Broncos tight end Noah Fant is fruitful. The 22-year-old Iowa alumnus has not scored a touchdown since Week 2. Now is the time against the tight end-plagued Falcons. Start Fant in Week 9 with confidence.
