NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 9 Sunday Slates Quarterbacks

Nick Foles, CHI at TEN ($5,500-DK/$6,800-FD)

Foles had some rough moments in Week 8 against the Saints, enough where there was some question as to whether Mitchell Trubisky would potentially make an appearance. Trubisky ultimately came in for one designed play and promptly sustained a serious shoulder injury, so Foles won’t be in any danger of being pulled in what should be a favorable Week 9 matchup for the veteran quarterback anyhow.

The Titans are tied with several teams for third-most touchdown passes (17) allowed to QBs, and they’ve surrendered averages of 21.7 DK/20.8 FD points per game to the position. Tennessee’s secondary has actually been at its most vulnerable at home, allowing a robust 294.5 passing yards per contest at Nissan Stadium. Foles has put together his two highest yardage tallies of the season in the last two games, and he’s put up at least 39 pass attempts in five consecutive contests, all factors that should help him offer a solid return on his current salaries.

Drew Lock, DEN at ATL ($5,200-DK/$7,200-FD)

Lock comes into this interconference matchup riding the wave of a remarkable comeback victory against the Chargers in Week 8, one in which he secured the win with a touchdown pass to KJ Hamler as time expired. The second-year quarterback appears to be hitting his stride after the last two weeks, and he draws a solid matchup and game environment with which to offer strong returns on his very reasonable salary.

The Falcons have been playing much more spirited defense under interim coach Raheem Morris, but they’re still giving up the second-most passing yards per game (311.4), along with the most touchdown passes (20) and most DK points (28.8) and FD points (26.4) per game to quarterbacks. Lock also comes in on an upswing, putting together his two best passing-yardage tallies of the season in the last pair of contests. Sunday, he’ll have a chance to one-up those numbers against an Atlanta team that’s playing at the sixth-fastest pace (26..0 seconds per play) and therefore gives opponents a few more extra opportunities than usual over the course of a game.
