The Seahawks have agreed to a new multi-year contract extension with head coach Pete Carroll.

Life is good for Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks. Entering Sunday’s showdown with the Buffalo Bills, the Hawks are at the top of the NFC West standings and are looking like serious threats to compete for a Super Bowl title this winter.

While Russell Wilson and the offense will get all the credit, Carroll has been brilliant as the team’s head coach and fans love him. That’s why the breaking news of the team agreeing to a contract extension with Carroll is something that’s surely being celebrated throughout The Emerald City. On top of that, it’s looking like Carroll will be on the Seahawks sidelines until he’s ready to call it a career.

Seattle has signed Pete Carroll to a new deal that should let him retire with the organization

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carroll’s new deal will keep him in Seattle for a few more years, but more importantly, it should result in him being able to coach the team up until he’s ready to retire. Carroll just turned 69 years old in September, but he’s still got the energy of someone in their 40s. That much has been made clear time and time again on Sundays.

At the same time, everyone knows he’s climbing with age and he won’t be able to keep this form forever. With that being said, Carroll has earned the right to coach the squad as long as he wants, with John Schneider and the rest of the front office ready to do whatever it takes to make him happy.

Before he does retire, Carroll will look to win at least one more Super Bowl with the Seahawks. If things keep going the way they are for Seattle, that very well could come this February.
