The Miami Dolphins will be without receiver Preston Williams for at least three weeks while he deals with a foot injury.

Preston Williams I one of the better young receivers in football. If only he could stay healthy.

The second-year man out of Colorado State caught a touchdown on Sunday in the Miami Dolphins’ 34-31 win over the Arizona Cardinals. However, he left late in the first half with a foot injury and didn’t return.

On Wednesday, head coach Brian Flores said the injury was bad enough to land him on Injured Reserve.

So far this year, Williams notched 18 catches for 288 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. This coming off a rookie campaign in which he amassed 32 receptions for 428 yards and three scores in eight tilts before tearing his ACL.

Under the rules this season, a team can have players return from said list after three weeks. Once they are activated, they have a 21-day window to practice and eventually play. If they can’t play in that time, they are done for the season. Teams may do this with as many as three players in a season.

Miami could use Williams back in the fold ASAP. The Dolphins have won four straight games, including the last two being helmed by rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Miami is on the cusp of a playoff berth, something the team hasn’t achieved since 2016 when Matt Moore guided the Dolphins down the stretch.

Should Williams be able to return for the final month or so, it would be a big boost to the offense.
