2. A relaxed schedule

Wins over Detroit and Green Bay have to be comforting for a team now looking for a reason to suit up each Sunday. Between a trio of offensive stars, plus overall decent play from the defense, there are the makings of a contender in the process at the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Scheduling always helps and boy, the Vikings reaming schedule certainly plays into their favor. Of the seven teams remaining on their schedule, four have records below .500, one is the struggling Chicago Bears and two are contenders in the NFC South. To make matters more favorable, Minnesota will host Carolina, Dallas and Jacksonville in November/December: all areas that are considered warm-weather places during the winter months.

Two road games against Tampa Bay and New Orleans are suspicious, yet keep in mind both teams have a terrible loss to the Bears and Raiders, respectively. Chicago’s offense is more like a stalling engine while Detroit already has lost to the franchise on the road. If they can pull out six wins, that should be enough for an 9-7 finish and a chance at the playoffs.
