2. New York Knicks

An aging point guard on a terrible contract who might be past his prime? By God, that’s the New York Knicks‘ music!

In all seriousness, the Knicks have like 12 younger prospects (only two of which are actually good) and 18 power forwards. Paul would represent a huge upgrade at the position and give this franchise a chance at re-establishing a winning culture, even if CP3 alone couldn’t carry this young group to the postseason. Still, he’d be a great influence on RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson.

At the price of the expiring contracts of Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson; young but flawed prospects in Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina; and either New York’s eighth overall pick or a future first-rounder, Paul could be possibly be had. The Thunder won’t deal him to one of the NBA laughingstocks without his blessing, but in such a major market, it’s not as impossible as it sounds on paper.

For the Thunder, this kind of return would be more about quantity over quality — hoping one of Knox or Ntilikina soars in a new environment and that one of New York’s draft picks hits.
