DeMar DeRozan isn’t opposed to a trade to the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t satisfied with their NBA Championship-winning roster, so they’re trying to add another star to the LeBron James-Anthony Davis pairing.

DeRozan could be traded for the second time in three seasons, as the Spurs are inching towards a rebuild despite Gregg Popovich’s itch for winning. San Antonio’s inability to compete in a crowded Western Conference is perhaps heading their efforts to dump both DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge.

Considering DeRozan is from the Los Angeles area originally, the aspect of playing for his hometown team and competing for a Title will be welcomed, should it occur.

“You’d better feel good about it because there are some (expletive) that’s not wanted…Especially me, being from LA, it’s like damn, my hometown team want me? (The Lakers) just came off a championship, and they want me?” DeRozan said.

DeRozan has a couple options to get to LA

DeRozan could either opt out of his contract to facilitate a sign-and-trade to the Lakers, or he could opt in to his $27.7 million option which would eliminate any no-trade clause he has. Either way, he could end up a Lakers should he wish.

The Lakers are in win-now mode, and there’s no guarantee the repeat in the West. The Clippers will be back to avenge their embarrassing Western Conference Semifinals defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. The Warriors will vastly improve with Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green back at full strength. Adding DeRozan to the equation gives LA a Big 3 that can match up to any other in the NBA.

Los Angeles are favorites to win the West next season by default, but when the opportunity arises to acquire an All-Star, why pass it up?
