This time, Danny Dimes would not be denied  for the New York Giants.

The New York Giants are playing for their season Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles. Daniel Jones could be playing to prove to the franchise it’s not too soon to give up on him under center.

Plays like the one in the first quarter at least will buy time for Danny Dimes. Actually, perhaps it’s better to call him Danny Dashes moving forward.

On the team’s opening drive, Jones would keep the ball on a quarterback designed run to pick up the first down. The Eagles’ defense didn’t seem ready to tackle, so the second-year quarterback kept running. Before everyone knew it, Jones found the end zone on a 34-yard run to give the Giants a 7-0 lead. Jones would finish the first drive 2-of-3 passing for 26 yards as well.

History wouldn’t repeat itself again for Daniel Jones

Jones’ run might be special after what happened the last time these two NFC East rivals met. During a Thursday night game, the former Duke signal-caller would break free of an 80-yard run that would have been an impressive touchdown. Instead, Jones tripped near the goal line, leading to him become a meme on Twitter for the remainder of the evening.

People understand that Jones has wheels when in the open field. Heading into Sunday’s outing, he led the team in rushing yards with 320, averaging 8.0 yards with his legs. Tack on his first touchdown to go along with what could only be described as a limited run game in the Big Apple.

Love him or hate him, give Jones plenty of credit on the run. This time, he remained on his feet and picked up six instead of picking up the “L” on social media.
