Left field-Clint Frazier

Frazier deserves a ton of credit for seizing his opportunity to become a Yankees starter last season. He was disappointed not to make the big league club out of preseason camp, but he made a huge impact for the team when his number was called.

His healthy slash line of .267/.394/.511 shows that he’s a plus bat. Frazier’s exceptional bat speed gives him a chance to hit for power against any pitcher in the league. The Yankees would like to see him cut down on his strikeout rate, but that didn’t stop him from posting an impressive WAR of 1.5 last season.

Arguably the biggest development in Frazier’s game was his glove work last season. He was a borderline disaster in the outfield during the 2019 season. The fact that he found a way to become a Gold Glove nominee in 2020 is nothing short of remarkable. It serves as a testament to Frazier’s athleticism and work ethic.

It’s clear Frazier deserves to start next season as one of the Yankees’ outfield starters. Look for the front office to find a quality left-handed bat to give him some healthy competition though. That could be Gardner if he comes back, but Mike Tauchman isn’t good enough to be counted on. Frazier should be counted on to be an above-average starter, but the Yankees won’t start next season without a potential safety net in left field.
