The Heat’s run to the Finals was not just Jimmy Butler and an assemblage of guards draining threes, as Bam Adebayo crystallized the fact that he is one of the best young big men in all of basketball. Unfortunately for Miami, his injury showed how lacking they were in frontcourt depth, and a bigger team like the Los Angeles Lakers had little trouble in dispatching them. The Heat already have one of the best second units in the league, and adding the league’s best bench player in Harrell would only reaffirm how deep they are.

Players like Jae Crowder and Meyers Leonard have their roles on this Heat team, but neither of them can claim to be featured scoring options or interior presences on the offensive end, and Harrell has both of those tags applied to him.

When Adebayo left the game in the Finals, it looked like all of Miami’s offensive creativity and interior presence totally ebbed away. While Harrell might not be the two-way stud Adebayo is, his ability to score inside, run the floor and make crisp passes to keep the ball moving should check all of Erik Spoelstra’s boxes.
