NBA Offseason 2020: 5 potential landing spots for Carmelo Anthony
By Mike Luciano
The Milwaukee Bucks have proved beyond a shadow of doubt that they expect Giannis Antetokounmpo to sign a super-max contract that keeps him in Milwaukee long-term. Sensing their championship window is as open as it will ever be, the Bucks chose to mortgage their future by trading away two quality guards, three first-round picks, two pick swaps, and two former first-round picks to the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings in deals that netted them Jrue Holiday and Bogdan Bogdanovic.
While this reaffirms the Bucks’ status as a championship contender, their rock-solid depth has been completely washed away, and the team’s financial situation means they might have to shop at the proverbial thrift store.
Anthony has his stats, All-Star appearances and individual recognition. All he needs now in his Hall-of-Fame career is a championship, and Milwaukee might be able to give him that. Melo, like Allen Iverson, has a mental block that almost prevents him from coming off of the bench, but if he is able to put his ego aside and accept a second-unit role like Dwight Howard did with the Lakers, he could give the Bucks even more offensive firepower as they chase a title.
