NBA Offseason 2020: 5 potential landing spots for Carmelo Anthony
By Mike Luciano
LeBron James, who was picked two selections ahead of Anthony in the 2003 NBA Draft, has always had a friendly relationship with Carmelo, but the two have never linked up despite plenty of chances to do so. While this made little sense a few years ago given how ball-dominant both players are, Anthony might be willing to change his tune if he wants to finally get some jewelry on his hand. Taking a veteran minimum deal to join the Los Angeles Lakers would not only give him a chance to get that ring, but it could allow him to put up the numbers he craves.
Howard’s decision to take a reserve role in order to win a title should have Anthony thinking he can do the same. On the Lakers, he would no longer have the responsibility of dominating the game, but he would get a decent amount of offensive touches and put up plenty of points against second units, all while competing for a championship with one of the best.
