Antonio Gibson – Washington Football Team

J.D. McKissic was a recent focus of this column but, though he continues to dominate the targets out of the backfield, it is Gibson who gets the lion’s share of the workload as a runner and he shone for Washington as a comeback attempt at Ford Field came up short.

His numbers were mediocre, Gibson had only 45 yards on 13 carries, but he crucially found the endzone twice, including for the tying score in the fourth quarter, and added some value as a receiver with four catches for 20 yards.

Gibson finished the game with 22.5 points in PPR leagues and the nature of the Washington offense suggests he will continue to be a focal point of the attack down the stretch.

His running ability and the receiving skills of McKissic and impressive young wide receiver Terry McLaurin are the most reliable aspects of a largely underwhelming offense, with that trio the only players from Washington worth starting in fantasy.

And Gibson has brought scoring upside in recent times, with four of his seven touchdowns coming in the last three weeks.

Washington’s offense is a difficult watch but as long as Alex Smith and Co. continue to move the ball, Gibson merits starter consideration as the candidate most likely to punch it in.
