Fantasy Stars & Studs, Week 10: D’Andre Swift among surprise standouts
Salvon Ahmed – Miami Dolphins
Ahmed will hardly have been high on most people’s fantasy radar heading into the Dolphins’ meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers.
However, with Myles Gaskin on injured reserve because of a knee injury, he will have gained the attention of fantasy managers still in need of a boost at running back after deputizing in impressive fashion.
Ahmed had 85 yards on 21 attempts, good for an average of over four yards per carry, and a touchdown. He did not have an impact in the passing game, making one catch for five yards, but still finished the game with 16 points in PPR scoring.
His rushing attempts amounted to 84 percent of the total carries by Dolphins by running backs. There is reason to believe he will have a similar workload going forward given the lack of competition for carries in the Dolphins backfield.
In addition to Gaskin being on the sideline, Matt Breida has missed the last two games because of a hamstring injury. Should Breida be unavailable for the Week 11 game with the Denver Broncos, logic dictates Ahmed will again see most of the touches among running backs.
Owned in only five percent of Yahoo leagues and zero percent of ESPN leagues, Ahmed should be top of the waiver priority list for fantasy owners who require a short-term fill-in at running back.
