2021 NFL mock draft: Cowboys fix their defense in first round with Micah Parsons
By Brad Weiss
If there is one thing that the Chicago Bears proved on Monday night is that they cannot win with just their defense alone. This is a Bears defense that is good enough to win a Super Bowl, but the quarterback play has been shoddy at best, and it is time to make another change at the most important position in football.
With pick No. 16, Florida’s Kyle Trask should still be on the board, and he is an interesting prospect to keep an eye on. The Bears are going to need to start fresh at the position, and in Trask, they get an accurate quarterback who does not make mistakes, unlike the guys playing the position now.
The Cleveland Browns narrowingly escaped with a victory against the Houston Texans, and they have kept their playoff hopes alive. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has had a rough season but has shown flashes, and they will likely continue with him as their guy under center moving forward.
On the other side of the ball, Cleveland needs help in the secondary, and they add Caleb Farley from Virginia Tech to a group headlined by Denzel Ward. That gives them some good young talent at cornerback, an area they need to improve on defense.
The Tennessee Titans are another AFC team that has had a roller coaster of a season, but after making the AFC title game last season, they should be back in the mix in 2020. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has some nice weapons in the passing game, but adding an elite wide receiver here at No. 18 makes a lot of sense.
Looking around, you can see Alabama wideout DeVonta Smith up and down the first round, and if he is available at No. 18, that would be a great get for Tennessee. This is a team that should be good for quite some time, and Smith will eventually be a No. 1 wideout in this league.
