Running Back: Alvin Kamara $9,700

There has to be one of these major running backs on the docket on the team this week, and Alvin Kamara is the one with the most reasonable price. Cook is getting so expensive, it’s hard to put a team around him ($800 more than Kamara), and McCaffrey may still miss this next game against Detroit with a shoulder injury.

Kamara is going to play with a new quarterback, with Drew Brees likely missing this game with a rib injury. Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill will share the quarterback duties, but that likely won’t hurt Kamara’s value at all. He was still able to score a touchdown last week after Brees went down.

Last season, the Tampa Bay running backs had more than 700 yards receiving. It shows Winston at least knows to target them at the right time.

However, their lack of receiving touchdowns is somewhat concerning (only one receiving touchdown to a running back last season). When Vita Vea had as many touchdowns as the entire running back group, it’s not great, but none of them are remotely as good as Kamara.

The Saints gameplan will look to lean on Kamara with Brees out, as they use Winston’s big arm as a decoy against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons have won three of four since firing Dan Quinn, but they haven’t faced a running back even remotely as good as Kamara in that time. Can the coaching staff stop a weapon like him, especially with a Michael Thomas deep ball looming over the defense at every turn? It’s unlikely, and the Saints should be able to take advantage.
