College football upset alert, Week 12: Ohio State, USC among 5 teams in danger of losing
College football upset alert No. 1: Ohio State Buckeyes
Rank: 3 | Opponent: 9 Indiana Hoosiers | Time: Saturday, Nov. 21, Noon ET
By almost any measure, the Ohio State Buckeyes are among the leading contenders to make it to the College Football Playoff this season. Justin Fields not only picked up where he left off last season — once the Big Ten actually got back on the field — but he’s even better in the 2020 season. And in Columbus, the roster is never short on talent.
As the Buckeyes come into Week 12, though, they face potentially their toughest test of the season, especially with what we know about Penn State now and with the way Michigan has looked to this point. Meanwhile, Tom Allen’s Hoosiers have climbed inside the top 10 of the rankings and sit at 4-0 on the season as they visit The Shoe on Saturday.
There is an undeniable talent discrepancy between Ohio State and Indiana but the Hoosiers have already proven capable of overcoming that with wins over the aforementioned Nittany Lions and Wolverines. This is a well-coached team with explosive talent that can clearly draw up a gameplan that could put the Buckeyes on the ropes.
Furthermore, I do wonder about the Buckeyes’ preparedness for this game. Having taken the week off and still riding high, they may be prone to resting on their laurels more than they should. For a team that hasn’t been perfect outside of Fields now facing a tough team that’s done nothing but garner momentum, that’s a dangerous spot for Ohio State to find themselves in for Week 12.
