Scouting Report. Toronto Blue Jays. 39. player. Pick Analysis. AL. East. 3

The Blue Jays returned to the playoffs in 2020, and despite the uncertainty over where they’ll play games in 2021 (Toronto? Buffalo?), they have payroll space and seem set to be active this offseason. Early offseason rumors have attached them big names like Francisco Lindor, George Springer and Trevor Bauer.

A trade for Lindor would require moving Bo Bichette to second or third base in the short-term, with the versatile Cavan Biggio in the mix at those spots. The ship should be sailed on Vladimir Guerrero Jr. being a third baseman, ideally at all but certainly not often. Third base is ripe for an upgrade, and general manager Ross Atkins hinted broadly at a possible impact move offseason.

“I think we are in a position where we could add to this team with talent that is condensed in one player and a super high impact,” “We got to the point last year where we felt like the team was competitive enough to move towards winning, and that was a big part of that decision. We’re going to continue to think about how we can build upon this group, and hopefully it’s both complementary as well as making as making a really high impact.”

There may no higher impact move than making a deal for Arenado, this side of Lindor, Bauer, Springer or Kris Bryant, for the Blue Jays this offseason. He fills a hole in the lineup without having to move anyone around the diamond, and he could DH occasionally apart from the idea the universal DH will be adopted.
