Illinois showed no chill on Twitter after embarrassing Nebraska.

Nebraska football fans may have some regrets over the Big Ten season coming back after all.

Nebraska along with Ohio State was among the most vocal advocates for the Big Ten to reverse their decision and play the football season. After a 1-3 start that includes a game canceled due to COVID, they may be rethinking their wishes to play the season because the losses are racking up in the record book and on social media.

After Illinois did whatever they wanted against the Huskers on Saturday afternoon, the Illini Twitter account send a shot across the bow that will leave Nebraska football fans fuming.

That is so cold-blooded and ruthless and another sign that college football Twitter is not for the faint of heart.

All jokes aside, despite the rough season to this point, Nebraska football fans and players alike would rather play and lose every game than not play at all.

With a road trip to Iowa on Black Friday, Scott Frost‘s team has a chance to get a little momentum back for the final three games of the season and hope that it carries over into next season. Iowa isn’t quite a rival to the extent that their old Big 8/Big 12 foes like Oklahoma and Black Friday opponent, Colorado, were back in the day, but a win would go a long way toward giving some confidence to this team, players and their fans.

Quarterback Luke McCaffrey looks like a player to build around, but he needs a lot more help before it’s time for Nebraska football to think about competing for division titles and national titles again anytime soon.

They’ll take their lumps and be the butt of jokes in the short run with the hope that they’ll be back on top in the near future.
