1. Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy and BYU quarterback Zach Wilson

While it’s fair to question Bieniemy’s HC chops if he’s been passed over for openings so many times, his performance over the last few years in Kansas City has been exemplary, and that could land him a head coaching job in 2021. Rather than looking at the free agent scrap heap, Bieniemy could look to mold another quarterback from scratch in the NFL Draft. While Detroit’s record might be too good to get Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields, they could snag someone like BYU’s Zach Wilson.

Wilson has had a meteoric rise this season, completing 74 percent of his passes on 11.5 yards per attempt, tossing 26 touchdowns against just two interceptions along the way. His arm talent for someone his size is simply astonishing, and his combination of mobility, deep accuracy, and confidence makes for a lethal assemblage of traits. Bieniemy’s greatest accomplishment in his coordinator career is the development of Patrick Mahomes. While Wilson is not on his level, drafting him could set the Lions up quite nicely for the next decade in a very tough, physical division.
