QB. Matt Ryan. Pick Analysis. Atlanta Falcons. 1. player. 44. Scouting Report

Unlike most employees who go on a work trip to New Orleans, Matt Ryan had a horrific time in the Big Easy.

The Atlanta Falcons seemingly had the advantage at the quarterback position, as the Saints were trotting out gadget player Taysom Hill, who only had 18 pass attempts in his entire NFL career. While the Falcons defense was bad, the expectation was that Ryan would keep them in the game. Instead, Ryan had one of the worst games of his career while Hill shined.

Ryan didn’t exactly have much help, as his offensive line allowed him to get sacked a staggering eight times against a ferocious Saints pass rush and top target Julio Jones left the contest with a hamstring injury. Even so, Ryan can usually put up decent umbers. Instead, he had a 51.3 completion percentage for 232 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. All in all, Ryan left the contest with a quarterback rating of 48.5, his lowest since 2013.

Look, normally a performance like this would cause a quarterback to be riding pine for the next game. But who do the Falcons have to throw out there at this juncture? Matt Schaub? We all know what kind of quarterback he is. Usually, with a season lost like Atlanta’s, you can start a young signal caller to see what you have. But the Falcons don’t have one available to them. Either way, Ryan had a bench-worthy showing in Week 11.
