Per a report, Sean Payton’s decision to start Taysom Hill over Jameis Winston didn’t sit well with multiple players.

When it was revealed that star New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees would be sidelined for multiple weeks due to his serious ribs and shoulder injury, everyone expected Jameis Winston to take over the offense. However, Sean Payton surprised many out there, as he named Taysom Hill the starter earlier this week.

Now, it appears that call has caused some division inside the Saints locker room, as NFL insider Adam Schefter is reporting multiple New Orleans players are not happy with the decision and they want Winston out on the field with them instead of Hill.

Multiple Saints players are not happy Taysom Hill is starting Sunday over Taysom Hill

Per Schefter’s sources, the Saints are using Sunday’s game against the Falcons as a chance to evaluate Hill and his potential to be the long-term starter once Brees eventually decides to hang up his cleats. That’s why the team signed him to a two-year extension.

However, the team also brought in Winston during the offseason to serve as Brees’ backup, as the former No. 1 overall pick has plenty of experience under his belt.

Last season with the Buccaneers, Winston struggled throughout the year and tossed 30 interceptions, but he also threw for 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns. For his career, Winston has 19,812 passing yards and 121 passing touchdowns to his name.

Even with those numbers, Payton decided to stick to his guns and is giving Hill the ball on Sunday. With Brees expected to be out until at least Week 14, Hill has the opportunity to show Payton and the rest of the organization what he’s made of over the next few weeks. However, if he struggles, fans will be calling for Winston to take over. Following Schefter’s report, it’s clear multiple New Orleans players will be ready to do the same as well.
