Scouting Report. Seattle Mariners. AL. West. 1.. player. 62. Pick Analysis

Reading the Seattle Mariners mentioned in Feinsand’s report came as a bit of a shock. This is a Mariners team that blew up its roster not too long ago to bolster up their farm system. That was a mission accomplished by general manager Jerry Dipoto, as the Mariners boast the fourth-best prospect pipeline in MLB, trailing only the Rays, Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres.

Why would the Mariners opt to surrender prospects to the Rays, who already boast the best group of prospects in the league? Because the Mariners and Rays are no strangers to making deals with each other. Feinsand says that Dipoto and Rays general manager Erik Neander have made a total of 10 trades with each other. Why not make it 11?

There’s another intriguing detail to add as well. Feinsand says that Snell could prefer a trade to Seattle because that’s his hometown. Who doesn’t love a homecoming? Snell could serve as the ace to their rotation, followed by the likes of Marco Gonzales and Justus Sheffield. That, and he can sell a boatload of merchandise for the organization and would help put butts in seats when everything is safe and the pandemic is over.

Snell showcased what he can bring to his team when the lights are shining brightest in his Game 6 start in the World Series. A team like the Mariners would greatly benefit from this, especially if they want to break past the Houston Astros in the AL West standings.
