Brewers: 3 free agents to sign and 1 to avoid this offseason
By Mike Luciano
The Brewers are almost certainly going to look at pitchers this offseason, and Quintana’s agent will try to get him offered to teams willing to be the setting for his resurgence. After just four games and one start last year, Quintana could potentially return to the form that made him an All-Star with the White Sox if he lands in the right spot. However, the pitching-needy Cubs are washing their hands of Quintana, and that should be a warning sign for Milwaukee.
Quintana hasn’t had an ERA below 4.00 since 2016, and his 2019 ERA of 4.68 show that he is getting worse with each progressive season. The Cubs were already swindled when they gave up Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease to their hated rivals on the South Side for Quintana, and Milwaukee needs to make sure that they don’t end up buying a ticket to ride the Quintana roller coaster as they look to contend.
