4. St Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals were connected with Francisco Lindor earlier this offseason, yet a deal for the Indians shortstop has yet to materialize. In fact, the Indians are holding a hard line for Lindor, and trade talks could last all Winter if not into the 2021 season itself. If the Astros are willing to work a little quicker on Correa, consider the Cardinals more interested.

St. Louis might already be out Kolten Wong this offseason, with the second baseman hitting free agency as one of the better players at his position available. Correa would be a huge addition to the lineup, either setting the table for Paul Goldschmidt or benefitting from hitting just behind him. Correa last made the AL All-Star team in 2017, but he remains a solid fielder at his position and a capable power bat. The 2020 expanded MLB postseason showed us just that, with Correa taking over games at times.

Dylan Carlson ranks as the No. 14 prospect in all of baseball, and he’s MLB-ready. The outfielder would likely be near the top of the Astros asking price for Correa, but the Cardinals have proven stubborn in the past as it pertains to dealing their top prospects. Not to mention, St. Louis has bigger fish to fry right now, as they hope to bring back Wong, Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright or all three.
