Adjusting to the Baltimore Ravens’ COVID outbreak can help you win in fantasy football.

The Baltimore Ravens are in jeopardy of having their Thanksgiving game at the arch rival Pittsburgh Steelers being postponed. COVID positivities in the running back room have knocked out Mark Ingram Jr. and J.K. Dobbins for the Thursday Night Football game in Pittsburgh. This places more emphasis on guys like Gus Edwards and Justice Hill to carry the rock more.

The Fantasy Footballers accept that they will have to adjust with Dobbins and Ingram being out this week. Even though the Steelers are a tough matchup for the Ravens from a running back standpoint, Edwards still ran the ball effectively vs. Pittsburgh’s previous meeting with their bitter rival. Hill will see more action, but Edwards is the guy to keep an eye on from a fantasy standpoint.

Because COVID positivities rarely mean a guy is out for one week, this could be something owners of Dobbins and Ingram will have to deal with in fantasy in the final weeks heading up to the playoffs. Edwards will the featured back this week vs. the Steelers with Hill backing him up. It could be the same pecking order next Thursday night vs. the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13.

This could be more than just a one week thing for the Baltimore Ravens

So how confident should you feel about starting either Edwards or even Hill in fantasy? With Edwards, there is a good chance he is claimed in most leagues, but if he is still available out there, definitely pick him up. From a fantasy starting standpoint, Edwards would be a good flex play, but probably a bit too risky to play as your RB2. Then again, he could come up big for you here soon.

Hill is probably not worth picking up for any extended period. If you need to start a guy because of injuries or other things, it might be worth streaming Hill either this week or next. Then again, with the Ravens playing on back-to-back Thursdays, let’s hope you have better options to go with in fantasy than the Ravens’ fourth-string back. As for Edwards, you can start him in either week.

dark. Next. Are any Bengals fantasy playable in wake of Joe Burrow injury?

Ultimately, the Ravens are a run-centric offense and the runnings will be getting work. That will presumably tip the scales in favor of starting a Ravens back not named Dobbins or Ingram as the fantasy playoffs approach. Once they come off the COVID-19 list, definitely put Dobbins and Ingram back into the mix as you have been using them. Baltimore too has the playoffs to play for.
