College football DFS running back picks November 27:

Top Tier:

The Texas run defense has been solid all year. Breece Hall only ran for 101 yards on the Horns last year. I would expect something around that again, which wont pay off that price. I kind of feel the same way about Javonte Williams. Both have good upside, but most outcomes would have them coming in with not enough production for the price.

That leaves Kyren Williams with a high ceiling, but the Notre Dame offense sometimes limits him. Both Book and Flemister poach touchdowns and it’s concerning that Williams had just nine carries against Boston College in the last game for the Irish.

Now it’s time for you to say hello to the running back that could break the slate. UNLV’s run defense has been awful, allowing 213.3 yards per game and 11 rushing touchdowns in only four games. The ceiling is extremely high for Xazavian Valladay here.

Middle Tier:

Kobe Lewis has scored five touchdowns in three games, so I’m not worried about the lower volume of carries over the last couple of games. Eastern Michigan has struggled to stop the run so far. There will be plenty to go around for the CMU backs.

We just saw Jermar Jefferson go nuts on Cal last week. Austin Jones did most of his damage on receptions last week, but the Cardinal are committed to getting Jones the ball however they can. He struggled rushing against Colorado, but still had a touchdown and seven receptions. He has a good floor and good upside.

Both Tyler Goodson and Mekhi Sargent are strong plays against Nebraska. The Hawkeyes have been committed to grinding opponents into submission, a game plan that has worked out very well so far. It will here as well. Sargent may be a better play for the price, but Goodson has more upside.

Bargain Shoppers:

Greg McRae has scored at least one touchdown in every game but the Tulsa game. He’s getting meaningful carries even if he isn’t the starter, and his touchdown pattern speaks for itself. McRae is a really nice play this week for the price. However, there is still a risk when you roster someone whose value is attached to touchdowns.

Central Michigan commits about a dozen touches per game to Lew Nichols. He has done quite a bit with them so far. Nichols is the best receiver out of the CMU backfield which gives him a solid floor for a value play. However, it would seem like Otis Anderson is a better play based on the offense and the opponent.

Darius Boone is a decent play if he’s in, but I still think I prefer another backup in Trey Smith. Wyoming runs the ball a ton and Smith has three touchdowns over the last two games. If Boone is out, DJ Smith looks enticing at just $4,000. He racked up 12.3 DraftKings points last week with Boone out.
