5. Todd Gurley has a startable outing vs. LV

We recommended against Gurley last week. We were right. That’s because the Saints have the formula to stop opposing running backs. There was nothing doing for Gurley and nothing doing for the Falcons in general.

As for the Falcons – onward! Atlanta has a gruesome schedule afoot with little-to-no chance at making the postseason. Their interim coach is auditioning for the future, and Matt Ryan may be doing so, too. The Falcons will have a decision to make on the scope of this team after a 2020 autopsy is complete.

For Week 12, Todd Gurley should rise [back] to the occasion of RB1 or RB2 for your lineup. He’ll square off vs. the Raiders – a team that gives up 20.4 PPR points a game to tailbacks. That ranks fourth-worst in the NFL. Somewhat quietly, Gurley has been the league’s 13th-best running back from a PPR perspective. He’s right in that James Conner and Jonathan Taylor territory.

Who knows if the Falcons can upset the Raiders. Strangers things have happened. If history is any indicator, though, Gurley should score north of 12 PPR points this weekend. On Sunday Night Football, Clyde Edwards-Helaire gashed Las Vegas for about 21 points. Gurley can get in that ballpark if the Falcons offense is cooking.
