NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 12 Sunday Slates Tight Ends
Hunter Henry, LAC at BUF ($4,800-DK/$5,900-FD)
Henry has been a previous suggestion in a season where the tight end position has often been challenging outside of the clear-cut elite options. With his salaries still very reasonable, he’s in play yet again Week 12 against a Bills defense that’s underperformed all season, especially against tight ends. Additionally, Henry checks in averaging a solid 6.6 targets per contest, has touchdown grabs in each of the last two games, and has rattled off a quartet of four-catch tallies Weeks 8-11.
Buffalo has given up a 59-642-6 line to tight ends across 10 games while drawing 78 targets to the position, with both the receptions and receiving yards surrendered qualifying as league-high figures. Henry certainly has the ability to get down the seam for a deeper depth of target than a less athletic tight end, and with a healthy 17.3 percent target share on the Chargers and a highly capable quarterback in Justin Herbert feeding him the ball, he shapes up as a viable option in what could certainly turn into a high-scoring affair.
Robert Tonyan, GB vs. CHI ($3,400-DK/$5,800-FD)
Tonyan is currently nursing a bit of an ankle injury, so be sure to confirm his status heading into the weekend. However, the athletic tight end is likely to play after nursing the issue at various points this season and yet never missing a game. Tonyan encouragingly reemerged after some quiet games in Week 11 despite a tough matchup versus the Colts, posting a 5-44-1 line that led to 15.4 DK/12.9 FD points. He’s also logged over 40 snaps in four straight games, setting up for a potentially rewarding fantasy night against a team tied with several others for fifth-most targets allowed to his position this season.
The Bears have been particularly effective against receivers, leading Chicago to face a modest average of 18.8 targets per game directed at wideouts. That’s often equated to opposing tight ends seeing a bump in their workloads, resulting in the Bears giving up a robust 54-587-6 line to the position. Those numbers have generated an average of 14.4 DK/11.6 FD points per game for opposing TEs, and with Tonyan already boasting six TDs and a catch of at least 20 yards in four of his last five contests, he offers excellent upside at his minuscule salaries.
