NFL teams that should sign Kenny Stills to make a run in the playoffs
4. Miami Dolphins
Before being sent to Houston as part of the Laremy Tunsil trade late in the 2019 preseason, Stills spent four seasons (2015-2018) with the Dolphins. His best campaigns with them came in 2016 (42 catches for 726 yards and nine touchdowns) and 2017 (58 catches for 847 yards and six touchdowns).
Jakeem Grant has had an uptick in usage lately (16 targets over the last three games), in line with Preston Williams being out for the season. But that has really just highlighted Miami’s lack of secondary wide receivers after DeVante Parker. At 6-4, ahead of two winnable games against the New York Jets (Week 12) and Cincinnati Bengals (Week 13), the Dolphins have a legit chance to make the playoffs.
It’s interesting that Wolfe, ESPN’s Dolphins’ reporter, broke the news of Stills and the Texans parting ways. Breaking ground on a path to a reunion?
3. Philadelphia Eagles
For a second straight year, the Eagles have gotten little consistency from their wide receivers due to injury, etc. The decline of quarterback Carson Wentz and an injury-riddled offensive line have been huge factors, but Philadelphia (3-6-1) can remain atop the NFC East with a win over the Seattle Seahawks next Monday night. Even if they lose, no one is running away with that moribund division.
The Eagles have to be in something of do-or-die mode as constructed for this year, with serious cap issues looming for 2021. With Stills, a veteran capable of helping a major need area has practically fallen into their laps.
